Why Do People Unfollow You?

 
With many companies and marketing managers focused exclusively on attracting follows on their various social media platforms, one topic is often overlooked - people unfollowing them. Not only is this an important topic to address because you lose follows, but it can also give some interesting insight into what companies are doing wrong.

So why are people unfollowing you? And yes, they definitely are.

Platform. Different platforms attract different people, and some people have a higher churn rate than others. For example, 12% of Twitter users have unfollowed a brand in the last few days. This is in contrast to LinkedIn, where 49% of people have never unfollowed a brand.

Frequency. Surprisingly (or not for some of us), posting too frequently has an equal chance of discouraging follows to repetitive content. In other words, don't keep posting the same stuff and don't post more than once a day.

So what do people want? The research shows that regular, informative, image focused posts are important. Post often, but not too often, and make sure that every post is unique and you're not just repeating the same information over and over and over.
