How To Manage Your Brand

Over the years, we have worked with a variety of companies – some small ones, and many large. We have worked with other marketing and advertising agencies, and we have kept a keen eye on the work that is produced by the industry. One thing has become very clear – people (including some considered to be experts) don’t know how to manage a brand.

Consider this scenario; Jimmy’s Little Marketing Co receives a phone call from Big Corporate (an engineering company) – the marketing manager of Big Corporate requires some brand management. This would involve work such as graphic design, various printing requirements, website management, social media marketing, and so on. Jimmy believes that he can do this job and is very good at selling himself. He wins the contract. Jimmy starts off trying to understand the client’s business, but has no experience in Big Corporate’s industry and finds it difficult to truly get to grips with it. He recommends designing a new logo in blue (because blue is the colour of trust) and running adverts on billboards with images of happy people with hard-hats. Big Corporate agrees and Jimmy goes off to do this.
