You've got to start with the customer experience and work back towards the technology. Not the other way around.

Mobile Apps? Marketing?

Every month Dragonfly Marketing receives numerous requests from companies wanting to create their own app. These apps range from extensive customer experience packages to simple informational tools.

This surge in interest from all sectors of business has caused us to ask the question, are apps the newest marketing tool?

Before we can settle on a yes or no answer to this question, we need to think about what marketing is. There are a number of definitions of marketing, range from a sales view to a more complex human interaction perspective. I find that the simplest explanation is always the best - marketing is a range of tools used to increase sales of a product or service.

This brings us back to the question - are apps a marketing tool? From the perspective of that simple definition of marketing, the answer appears to be yes. Apps are a great way for companies to create awareness, interact with their customers, and either generate sales directly or create the possibility of further sales.
