8 Tips to Help You Build Your Brand

Everybody knows what a brand is, but few people understand what it takes to build one and how to go about doing so. In our last article, we focused on the astronomical cost that some companies go through to build their brand, but you don't necessarily need to do the same.

Define. Think carefully about what your brand stands for. What values are important to you and your customers? Who are your customers? Create a clear identity for your company that will underpin any of your business efforts. This helps create consistency and becomes an identifiable characteristic.

Research. What do your competitors do right or wrong? What sort of logos are common for your industry? Are they effective? Investigating what other succesful companies do will help you avoid making mistakes that they have already made. If yellow isn't a good colour to use, don't.

Professional. Just because you can use the 3D effects on Powerpoint does not make you a graphic designer. Companies (such as ours) spend all day, every day, working with brands. We know what works and can easily identify how best to build a brand for your company. Make sure you get experts to do it properly the first time.
