Marketing is often seen by companies and entrepreneurs as an extra that only happens when there's some extra money for it. Even marketing managers sometimes make the mistake of underestimating the impact that effective marketing can have on a business.

The issue is often more that they don't understand how to measure the results of the investment and have difficulty correlating the money spent to the money gained. This is particularly true of brand awareness marketing, where results are measured over a longer period and sometimes less distinctly.

Being a Cheapskate. Everyone needs to work within a budget, no matter how small or large the company. But spending your limited budget on poor quality services and products will only reduce the results from the investment. In the end, you'll just waste money if the job isn't done properly.
