3 Reasons Your Social Media Sucks


As a digital marketing company, we often encountered people who don't fully understand the benefits of social media marketing and management. These are people we can easily educate - the benefits are naturally logical.

The more dangerous people are those that know why they should use social media, but not how. This category of marketers are easily fixated on poor and often hazardous approaches that inevitably lead to failure. What makes this dangerous is that it becomes impossible to show them that social media can work for them but hasn't before because they've been doing it wrong.


Here are some common mistakes that are made;

Posting about yourself. Social media is a PR activity. It's an opportunity to show people that you're the best at what you do. Shoving your products in their face only leads to them unfollowing you.


Posting rubbish images. There's a reason that graphic designers exist - to make boring information engaging. Posting stock images repeatedly and bland text posts will never get people involved in your page.

Using the wrong targets. The amount of followers you have is not an indication of social media success. If you have 10 000 likes but nobody is actually interested in your company, then you've achieved nothing. The goal here should always be creating a valuable following of people that engage with your brand because they want to.
